When most people think of Aspen now they think of over-priced hamburgers and Hollywood movie stars. But what is often overlooked is the astounding beauty and fantastic outdoor adventure that Aspen has for every type of visitor, no matter how many movies they've been in ;)

 

Like so many of Colorado's now famous ski towns, Aspen first came into existence as a silver mining town in 1879, at one point becoming the United States' most productive mining area. After the mining boom and subsequent bust, the town remained relatively unpopulated until the 1940s when the Aspen Ski Corporation began operations. Today of course Aspen is not only known for it's epic ski terrain ut also an exclusive array of festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Food and Wine Classic, and the Aspen Shortsfest/Film Festival.
